The Re-Birth of Your Mom Blogs

Writer: Veronica DeStefanoVeronica DeStefano

The end of 2024 I started to trail off a little bit in my postings, I felt stuck. I had a lot to write but I felt like it didn’t fit into this niche I created for myself. I put myself into a box and forced myself to write about only certain topics, while deep inside I had a much broader library of things to share.

It took this time off to realize that maybe I need to allow myself to step out of this box and start writing about ALL of things I enjoy rather than just sticking to this one topic. And it took some time for me to also be OK with trying again.

About 8 years ago I started working on a blog with a friend of mine with the idea that we would share motherhood stories, crafting, recipes, parties, etc. Unfortunately, while the idea was great, the timing was off. It fizzled out as it was just too much to juggle with work and very young children at the time.

Pink journal with "JOURNAL" text, two colored pencils on top, white marble notebook beneath, set on a light surface. Calm and neat scene.

Then about a month ago I got an email from google telling me that the email we created for that blog was about to be deleted because of inactivity. It brought back many memories and ideas we had for that dream. The passion and desire to share these stories was still there – but it had been lying dormant for the past 8 years. It was then that I decided to revive it.

The blog we started 8 years ago was called, Your Mom Blogs. If the main part of your childhood was in the 90s/early 2000s you know full well one of our greatest comebacks was “your mom” – then the famous “your mom goes to college” from Napoleon Dynamite took off. Looking back, it was sort of funny and brought back a sense of nostalgia, so I decided to keep it.

I've started going through all my old journals and documents to gather some of my favorite content I have been wanting to share in the realm of faith, family and fun. The highs, the lows, my creative side, inspirational thoughts, and all the things in between.

With older children now, I’m doing all I can to savor these childhood moments and enjoy the time I have with them, and I hope it can inspire others to do the same. Motherhood is exhausting but looking back I have zero regrets of doing all the things I did to make it memorable or special.

So, I’m starting of the new year with a new plan – mixing the old with the new and continuing on this journey! Thanks for sticking with me.
